Abstract

- In this era of technological advancements, Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems have become a crucial tool for various applications such as traffic management, parking management, and law enforcement. ANPR systems use optical character recognition (OCR) technology to read and extract text from vehicle number plates. The process involves image acquisition, preprocessing, number plate localization, character segmentation, character recognition, and text extraction. These systems offer a fast and accurate way to extract information from number plates, which can be integrated with other systems for efficient and automated operations. ANPR systems have become essential for modern-day traffic management and law enforcement agencies. This paper provides an overview of the OCR-basedANPR system for text detection and extraction, highlighting its importance and applications.
